Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science
The Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science aims to provide education and training for medical scientists to service the public and private pathology laboratory industry. A secondary aim is to provide graduates that will be able to play a role in the biomedical field including research, technical, advisory and commercial roles. Medical laboratory scientists perform a variety of lab tests, ensure the quality of the specimen and test results, interpret and explain the significance of laboratory tests, log data, evaluate new methods and study the effectiveness of lab tests.
Duration: 3 years – 6 semesters
Eligibility Criteria: As per PTU norms.
Marks required: As per PTU norms.
Course equivalent: The Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science
Study Mode: Classroom learning (full-time), lab classes, extensive environment-based training, and practical projects.
Assessment Methods: Case study, projects, assignments, yearly-semi-yearly exams, live app development.
Qualification: Students will be awarded BMLS degree upon successful completion.
Program objectives
On completion of the Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science, students should be able to:

Apply a broad and coherent body of theoretical and practical knowledge in the medical laboratory science with in depth knowledge in one or more specialist disciplines.

Collect, organise, analyse and interpret medical laboratory science literature and laboratory data using appropriate experimental, computational, statistical and
technological approaches. -
Exhibit scientific literacy and oral, written and digital communication skills to explain medical laboratory science concepts to a range of audiences.

Apply practical laboratory and technical skills to generate accurate scientific data.

Work independently or collaboratively in teams to critically and creatively analyse issues and develop appropriate solutions to complex problems across a range of cultural, institutional, national and global contexts.

Demonstrate a working knowledge of ethical, professional and workplace health and safety requirements in research and clinical laboratories.
