English for Basic Learners- Research and Solution.

Learning English for basic learners and students do when they want to use the English language in speaking especially . In language learning process, we often talk about language skills and language systems due to its norms. Language skills are include: Speaking, Listening, Reading, and Writing. Language systems include vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, and discourse. Phonetics and the study of sounds.

A lot of people learn English at primary school, where English is a common subject to learn the language well. Many people too want to spend their own individual time to learn English. Some of these people may not know basics of English, where others will have learned some English in primary and secondary school, and will want to advance their knowledge for life.

Students can learn the language with the initial sound system which is called phonetics. Phonetics- the study of speech sounds and their physiological production and the acoustic qualities. Young Scholars should learn the speaking through daily use sentences which we generally use at home, in school and colleges.

For example : What happened?, Why are you sad? What is your problem?, Where is your bag?, Can you help me etc.

When the basic learner of English language learn from these kind of daily use sentences then they learn the language in a good and confirmed way. Mostly we Indian speakers wrong use of Present Continuous at the place of Present Indefinite which is completely wrong in speaking and writing discourse in English. Students start to learn and use the good vocabulary as well as idiomatic sentences in their daily use language. Purchase a short play to read with a good analytical way to understand the speaking through dialogues of characters in that play or a drama based writing.

We should not use present continuous at the place of present indefinite. We can learn through the insight of the poem of Nissim Ezekiel “Goodbye Party for Miss Pushpa T.S. Here I am giving some instances from the poem. Which you can study to learn the English language well. The incorrect sentences and phrases given in poem:

The other aberrations are incorrect use of tense such as in “I am not remembering”, “his wife was cooking nicely”, “she was saying”, “that is showing”, “is never saying no”, “am always appreciating”, “we are wishing her bon voyage” etc. She is coming from very high family rather then the right use that She belongs to rich family. She is smiling and smiling rather than the correct use She smiles always. In this poem the poet tells us about the “Cockney Dialect” which makes the Indian butt of laughter among the genuine scholars, thinkers and wise literate personalities of the academic concern. The people who show off their half knowledge of the language become the butt of laughter and gentle fun because they use translation method as well as generally use Present Progressive at the place of Present simple as already above discussed examples.

Students should take help from experienced language expert mentors and their respective class teachers in school and colleges. They can make them highly successful through their practical experience and insights.
